why was the upgrade of the wastegate necessary? was the 38mm not able to hold the boost?

Wastegate is far to small to hold a small spring.

sorry... so did he change the wastegate itself? or just the spring?

edit: the reason i ask is because i would like to know how large a turbo the 38mm gate will take, using lower boost in the 1st few gears and higher boost 3rd or 4th, using something like a dual stage boost controller, ie.. the turbosmart ones.

No, he didnt. The wastegate is going to be changed along with some other items before another retune.

I prefer dual wastegates on a manifold, or a super large single wastegate with a large a/r and turbine wheel size. Its the only way to hold low boost with a large turbo.

This is why I sold my 38mm tial and bought a 48mm turbosmart gate. Jeff wouldn't a larger a/r on the turbine housing had an adverse effect on efficiency of the wastegate? More backpressure with a smaller a/r causing the exhaust to evacuate from the wastegate easier? Just a thought Im not too sure.

Also do you notice any power or flow differences on cars with precision 600 versus the precision 750 intercooler?

Nice Work!

Was the Tial wastegate having problems holding that much power?

Yes, it was. It was creeping a couple pounds at low boost.
