Car: EF Hatch

Engine: Bone stock D16z6, arp headstuds

Mods: Equal length lovefab t25 manifold, gt28rs t25 housing .86a/r, converted to external wastegate on turbo, 38mm tial gate, 3" dp, 3" exhaust, custom pwr 18x3x6 backdoor intercooler, greddy type r bov, custom 2.5" charge pipes, RC 550cc injectors, walboro 255lph HP pump, 3bar map sensor, greddy profec b boost controller, neptune

Tuning at 17psi on mix of 93 octane and Sunoco cam2:

Image

Car has been getting beat on for the last few weeks daily driven at this power level, with no issues at all. The open stock diff is proving to make this power level useless at being put down. This engine has well over 100,000 miles and has already hit 12.0~12.2 @ 112-113mph with only 250whp this past season, with well over 90 passes at the track and daily driven.

The plan is to see how long the engine lasts at this power level, see how fast it can get in the 1/4 with a diff and possibly larger slicks. I have no doubt that this engine will last awhile.

Man I really need to stop being a bitch and turn the boost up on my sohc. I'm not very satisfied with around 200whp anymore

im interested to know how much total ignition timing that engine had
neptune?
so OBD1 converted ... what ecu?
90 Civic + Z6 + 14B = 234whp @ 11psi

I really wonder how long a stock sohc being pushed to these power levels can last. Hopefully others out there will have enough balls to push theirs this far as well. I'd be interested to see.

wow nice number and nice powerband too it makes me want to get this turbo so much !!!! :(

Jeff : Do you think that the power would have stop to climb after 7000RPM... My rev limiter is set at 8200 RPM, do you think that it would be useless to go that high with the GT28RS .82AR T3 drop-in

I have a 59300 cam, Edelbrock IM and a ported head fully built with .5mm os valves... do you think I could see 300whp @ 15psi with this turbo ?

Ignition timing was very low, i dont disclose any specifics on tunes that i have done. I always have tuned conservative with a/f and timing on stock engines that are pushing big power.

When the engine was revved about 7000rpm, it didnt produce any significant increase in power, i.e just carried the power but didnt increase. The limiter was set at 7500 on this engine. In 99% of the d-series engines that i have tuned, they will not make power past 7500rpm. This is largely due to the turbo sizes that are used on the engines, as well as turbine housing sizes but the cam profiles and lack of well ported cylinder heads.

yeah mine didn't make power past that either. even with a ported head and a decent sized turbo :(

But wouldnt putting a bigger turbo on a single cam make very unefficient power?

How far can you go on stock pistons? All the books I read say only 200HP for the rods but never say anything about pistons. But you have made well over 200HP on the stock pistons and rods. I had a rod snap on a D16z6 at 17psi and on another motor i busted the ringlands on all the stock pistons. anyadvice there.
